Story=Having survived the farcical but utterly life-threatening events in Happy Death Day (2017), the feisty sorority sister, Tree Gelbman, finds herself in the same college dorm, thankful to be alive. However, this time, it's Carter's roommate, Ryan, who claims that he is reliving the same paradoxical day over and over again, as a mysterious paranoid killer in a single-toothed baby-faced mask with a big kitchen knife has made a habit of murdering him. Under those circumstances, a valiant but vain attempt to face the challenge, once more, will send Tree back to square one, trapped in an all too familiar and blood-drenched time loop. How many deaths separate Tree from a truly happy birthday?

I saw this movie because I enjoyed the first one. I was, however, a little disappointed realizing that this movie was more sci-fi than horror. It did remind me of Back to the Future, which was cool but this was a movie I probably could have waited for on Netflix. Great review though.
This movie would have been so much better if Tom didnt die.
Tree: gets frustrated doing the same thing every day Me: wakes up get ready for school, gets on bus,eat breakfast, go through 8 periods, get on bus and get home,take shower, do homework, watch tv, go to sleep, wake up and DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN.

I just bought it and watched it was good I get it know it was a different kind of reality.
I am going to start off by suggesting not to go watch thi movie. Save your money and order brazzers premium for a month instead. It’s not scary, bad acting and poor story. Only giving two stars because the actress Jessica Rothe was pretty.

You guys are missing the name of the wood chipper TREE REMOVAL.
I loved both these movies. It was utterly perfect with horror AND thrills/drama WITH romance. Like where can I find that all in one usually lol0 and it actually is good? I hope they can keep making sequels, or maybe even a short tv show, but bring back the horror for sure.
“I died 11 times” reminds me of “I SHOT HIM 8 TIMES!”.
So after watching Happy Death Day back in 2017, the possibility of getting a sequel or even the very idea of the notion seemed non existent & pretty unheard of.
Well what a surprise I got when I got home that night to find there was a sequel getting made! And it was actually true given the shat it out pretty fast under 2 years later! Now at first, I thought yeah right, but then I thought ok how are they going to continue a story which seemed pretty wrapped up & over & done with in the first film? Well in this film, it’s suppose to explain how Tree kept repeating the same day over & over again. Or at least explain without having to connect it in some way!
This film sees one of Trees friends experiencing the time loop & it is all because of a science project (rolls eyes at the sheer unrealistic nature of this showing a sign of what kind of so called sequel this was going to be. So with that, he sends everyone back into another universe (we don’t know when, but everyone is different & Trees mum is alive & well. But there’s another killer in the film trying to kill these friends of Trees & so with learning science & trying to figure out how to get back to the present day, Tree must die over & over to find out who the killer is & stop all of her friends dying back in the present day. A mouthful, I know, but the film itself was pretty confusing at points.
The film for me was 50/50.
The good: Film had some good death scenes (mostly with Tree. Some of the comedy elements were pretty good given the genre the film itself was classified as. The twists were pretty good. Jessica Rothe was gorgeous as always & looked the part in this film. The horror elements (very few) were good & the killers death at the end was well executed & pretty decent.
The bad: Confusing story line & not clear at which time it took place in & how it connects with the first film. The humour seemed to be over the top in a lot of areas & the film itself didn’t feel like a “horror” the film felt too light hearted & more of a sci-fi film with comedy bits & few horror elements. Basically, the film couldn’t decide what it wanted to be. The film wasn’t very gory or bloody & seemed to go off the rails from what it was meant to be in the first place, the film is a slasher horror film yet we see very little of that. The dark tone was ignored & the film felt too joke to be taken seriously in a lot of areas.
Overall I felt the reason for the film/sequel itself was unnecessary & completely unneeded. I mean given the reason for this sequel was suppose to explain why Tree kept repeating the same day over & over again in the first film. Yet when you watch this film it doesn’t show any evidence suggesting that in the first film at all. Watch the first film & you’ll not hear of any science project or crap about an experiment taking place on campus. The sequel was disjointed & felt pointless, none of the Back To The Future or Sci-Fi was ever mentioned in the first film, so the sequel had no reason to be made as the event in the alternate universe don’t add up to the events in the first film, bloody confusing!
The post credits scene seemed to be more MIBish & again seemed to go even more off the rails about what the genre was suppose to be. It’s suppose to be a slasher horror film yet the film seemed more like a Back To The Future sequel with too many comedy elements added in. It missed the point basically & I never expected or even wanted a sequel to this film in the first place yet now they’re talking about a 3rd film? What’s going to be? Tree fighting a knifed killer in outer space like Jason X? Pfft, I don’t know
5/10 An alright, but very unnecessary & unneeded sequel.
